Good morning, Bengaluru! β˜•

This Tuesday edition is here to help you plan the week without opening ten different tabs. There’s rain in the forecast, events are moving indoors, Malleswaram is our neighbourhood of the week, and we have a small Kannada line that can make daily city life a little warmer.

Neighbourhood of the Week: Malleshwaram

Malleshwaram is where Bengaluru slows down a little.

The roads feel older, the markets feel familiar, and the food still has that β€œpeople have been coming here for years” feeling. Start around Sampige Road, walk through the flower and vegetable lanes, stop near Kadu Malleshwara Temple, and then let breakfast become the real plan.

CTR is the obvious dosa stop, but Malleswaram is also good for smaller old-school places, filter coffee, temple streets, and a walk towards Sankey Tank if the weather behaves.

This is not the neighbourhood for rushing. Go when you want a softer side of Bengaluru - less glass building, more jasmine, coffee, and old signboards.

  2. A 10.3 km cycling corridor is nearing completion between Magadi Road and Mysuru Road. If it works well, cyclists may finally get a safer stretch.

  3. Heavy rain may cause waterlogging and traffic delays. Carry an umbrella and leave early if you are crossing ORR, Silk Board, CBD, or low-lying roads.

One Kannada Line for a Real Situation

Situation: You are in an auto and want to ask if the driver will go to your location.

Say: β€œAnna, illige hogtira?”
Meaning: Brother, will you go here?

If the driver agrees, you can say: β€œThank you, anna.”

You do not need perfect Kannada. Even one small line can make the interaction warmer.

🌿 Community Spotlight

This week’s community spotlight goes to Bengaluru’s animal welfare activists.

They have raised concerns over a planned shelter for around 500 stray dogs in north Bengaluru, warning that crowding and poor planning could lead to stress, conflict, and welfare problems for the animals.

This matters because caring for animals is not just about giving them a shelter. It is also about making sure that space is safe, clean, humane, and properly looked after.

Across Bengaluru, many people care for street animals in their own quiet ways. This move is a reminder that compassion works best when it is supported by proper systems. Read More
