Bengaluru is the kind of city where a wrong location pin can become a 40-minute sightseeing tour, and a normal Sunday road can suddenly fill up with hula hoops, cricket bats and dancing grandparents.
This week, the city gave us a few reasons to look up from Google Maps. Some were wholesome. One came with a ₹2,500 warning.

Neighborhood of the week: Brookefield

For one Sunday morning, 2nd Main Road in Brookefield had fewer horns and more hula hoops.
The final Whitefield edition of Happy Streets turned the road near Bagmane Neon Gate 1 into a traffic-free community space. Families came out for cricket, skating, archery, traditional games, dance, music, art and meditation.
Toddlers rolled tyres, grandparents cheered from the side and strangers spent time together without first creating a WhatsApp group.
For a few hours, the street belonged to people again. Tumba wholesome.

Fifty volunteers helped reclaim Bannerghatta road footpath

A 200-metre stretch near the Jayanagar fire station had become almost unusable because of garbage, debris and a persistent smell.
A civic team of 20 pourakarmikas, four marshals and waste officials spent nearly a month cleaning it. Then around 50 volunteers, aged 14 to 63, painted the kerbs, walls and portraits of Karnataka icons.
Youth for Parivarthan, the group behind the artwork, says it has transformed 400+ locations with support from 10,000+ volunteers over 12 years.

Loud Metro Reels Can Cost ₹2,500
Playing music or videos aloud, shouting, spitting, sitting on the coach floor or disturbing fellow passengers can attract a fine of up to ₹2,500.
