THE BIG STORY THIS TUESDAY

BENGALURU PROUD

A Bengaluru Scientist just made history. The whole world noticed.

Dr. Krithi Karanth grew up watching wildlife in Karnataka's forests. Today, she runs the Centre for Wildlife Studies right here in Bengaluru. For years, she has quietly worked to protect tigers, elephants, and entire ecosystems across India, no fanfare, no big announcements, just the work.

This month, the world finally said thank you.

She won the 2026 Esmond B. Martin Prize from the Royal Geographical Society in London. one of the most respected conservation awards on the planet. And she is the first Indian ever to receive it.

Not from Delhi. Not from Mumbai. From Bengaluru. 🌿

This is what this city looks like at its best, quietly doing things that the whole world ends up noticing.

Why this matters

CITY UPDATE

25,000 Bengaluru Homes to get piped gas soon.

Good news for Bengaluru, around 25,000 homes will soon get piped natural gas, reducing dependence on LPG cylinders. The rollout will mainly cover outer areas and large residential clusters across the city. Key stretches include Sarjapur Main Road, HSR Layout, JP Nagar, Malleshwaram, and Yelahanka, along with nearby neighborhoods. While the project promises long-term convenience, pipeline work may cause temporary road disruptions. Overall, it’s a step toward more reliable and hassle-free cooking fuel for many households
