Namaskara, Bengaluru ☀️
Here’s a Bengaluru food story we loved: in 2001, George Fernandes arranged for cakes from Koshy’s Bakery to reach troops at the border. Imagine getting a slice of something familiar that far from home.
Now, what’s cooking at yours this weekend? We’ve got a breakfast idea that starts with that packet of puffed rice in the kitchen.
☕ Bengaluru Trivia
Gabbar’s hideout was closer to Bengaluru than you might think. Which nearby town’s rocky hills were used to film Sholay?
Answer at the end.
Recipe of the Week: Mandakki Oggarane
That giant packet of puffed rice has breakfast potential.
A North Karnataka favourite, mandakki oggarane is often served with mirchi bajji. It suits a slow morning with sudden hunger: no overnight soaking or batter negotiations.

The Weekend’s Big Update
Pink Line gets closer
The elevated Pink Line section has completed its statutory safety inspection, conducted from 6–8 October. The 7.5-km stretch connects Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere through six stations, including Hulimavu, IIM Bengaluru, JP Nagar 4th Phase and Jayadeva Hospital.
For Bannerghatta Road commuters, another public transport option is moving closer. The planned interchange at Jayadeva will connect the Pink and Yellow lines, potentially reducing road transfers across southern Bengaluru.
But completing the inspection is a step towards authorisation. The passenger-service start date remains unconfirmed, so keep your existing commute plan for now.
Your Turn, Bengaluru
You wake up early on a Sunday. What now?
See you in the next kaapi. Same city, slightly better plans.
Trivia answer: Ramanagara. Its rocky hills became the backdrop for Gabbar’s lair.
