A Jaatre Just for Bengaluru’s Elders

Preparations are underway for Hiriyara Jaatre 2026, an annual Bengaluru celebration created for senior citizens living in old-age homes.
Organized by VTVO Elders Adda, this year’s gathering aims to bring together 800+ senior citizens from more than 40 old-age homes, supported by hundreds of volunteers. Elders will be transported from their homes for a full day of games, music, competitions, performances and - most importantly - the opportunity to meet people beyond their everyday circles.
The community is currently helping arrange transport, meals, refreshments, activity materials, gifts and basic safety support. Residents can learn about the campaign or contribute here, while volunteering updates are available through VTVO Elders Adda.
In a city constantly organising events for the young, it is lovely to see Bengaluru making room for its elders to simply celebrate, participate and form new friendships.
