Good morning, Bengaluru ☀️

So today’s Morning Kaapi is here to help you move smarter, plan one nice outing, avoid small “ayyo” moments, and catch what the city is talking about.
We’ve got rain watch, power cuts, Basavanagudi plans, a big concert update, local people doing good work, and a newcomer tip that is actually useful.

Commute Watch
Bengaluru is expected to stay cloudy, with possible thunder around noon and showers later in the afternoon.
That means the usual suspects may slow down: ORR, Koramangala, Indiranagar, MG Road, JP Nagar, Silk Board side, and anywhere cabs suddenly become “searching…”
Carry an umbrella, leave 15–20 minutes early if you have evening plans, and don’t book your cab exactly when rain starts. Swalpa planning maadi.
Power Watch
Koramangala side, Dont’t trust 12% battery today
Power cuts are expected between 10 AM and 5 PM in parts of Koramangala, Madiwala, Adugodi, SG Palya, Jakkasandra, Bannerghatta Road, St John’s Hospital side, and nearby areas.
Charge your phone, laptop, power bank, and patience.
Neighbourhood of the Week
Basavanagudi: old Bengaluru, no extra drama

This week, hogona to Basavanagudi.
Bull Temple, DVG Road, Gandhi Bazaar, Bugle Rock, flower shops, old eateries, temple bells, and proper filter coffee energy.
No need for a big itinerary. Just walk, eat, observe, and let the area do its thing. Basavanagudi is not trying to be cool. That’s why it is cool.
Community Spotlight
One Bengaluru man revived a forgotten pond

This week’s good city story: Gurunandan Rao and volunteers helped revive Bikkanahalli Kunte, a dried-up pond on Bengaluru’s outskirts.
The physical restoration took 24 hours, but the real work started months earlier with permissions, coordination, and clearing years of neglect. The pond now holds nearly twice as much water, and birds like kingfishers and herons have started returning.
Through HandsOn, Gurunandan’s volunteer movement has worked with around 11,000 volunteers and helped restore 34 water bodies across Karnataka.
Full respect. This is proper “maadbeku” energy.
Bengaluru Shift
Schools are saying no to food delivery apps
Several Bengaluru schools have banned Swiggy and Zomato deliveries on campus, citing health, safety, discipline, and lunch-hour disruption.
